Hilgendorf's tube-nosed bat is a small eastern Asian vesper bat with tubular nostrils and unusually long, soft, woolly fur. Head-and-body length is about 46.5–69.5mm, forearm 40–45mm, and recorded weight reaches 13g. The glossy four-banded hairs extend onto the wing membranes toward the elbows and knees, giving the animal a conspicuously furred appearance unlike the noticeably smoother-coated Eurasian serotines and pipistrelles. (Wikipedia, general species account)

The modern species concept includes names once treated separately on the Asian mainland, including M. sibirica and M. ognevi. It occurs across eastern Asia and is associated with forest and subterranean roosts. Its combination of tube-like nostrils, long coat, and fur spreading onto the wings is more useful for identification than colour alone. The opened sources did not support detailed Mongolian feeding, breeding, or viewing information. (Wikipedia, general species account; Mammal Diversity Database)
